AiMES high tech

The AiMES Centre (Advanced Internet Methods and Emergent Systems), part of the University of Liverpool, is a pioneer in the transfer of e-science to e-business.
AiMES works with businesses to create cutting-edge information and communications solutions which contribute to improved business competitiveness via ‘grid technology’. To this effect, AiMES facilitates access to tremendous computing power harnessed from idling computers in the form of a grid, this enables different types of business problems to be resolved in real time.
The Challenge
Due to the success of the existing facilities in Liverpool and the demand for further expansion, AiMES required additional premises to accommodate a new data centre.
As the new premises were located on a second floor with all other areas in the close vicinity occupied, various logistical complications had to be overcome. Times in which noisy works could be undertaken, and restricted access to and from the site all had to be considered and managed effectively.

The project entailed the strip-out of redundant site services and construction of a new data centre and office facilities.

"The team from Trustland took a methodical approach to ensuring all the required services were available for the specialist equipment as part of the lab fit out design process. A strict deadline needed to be met to ensure the successful launch of this new and innovative technology, and we delivered the project on time and within budget."
