Concrete works – Emerald Performance Materials

Emerald Performance Materials are a Canadian owned international chemical manufacturing business with operations throughout Europe including the Emerald Kalama site in Widnes.
The Challenge
Trustland were successful in competitively tendering a series of works involving the demolition of existing bunds and plinths, the construction of new tank bases and remedial works to existing bunds. The project value was in the region of £80,000.

The Solution
The existing bund already contained plinths within it and had multiple penetrations where pipework and valves passed through the walls. A section of the wall was removed to allow access for plant and machinery and the existing structures were demolished. Timber formwork was constructed within the bund and over a 100m3 of concrete was poured to form the bases.

Running concurrently with this project we also constructed a number of other plinths adjacent to this bund and additional plinths in other locations on site.
A further 60m3 was poured to form these other plinths and a new floor to the bund with falls to sumps.

The project was completed on programme and to budget with no accidents or incidents.
