Bridge Walkway – Emcor

The client for this project was facilities management company Emcor. We won a framework contract with Emcor in spring 2016 to carry out “hard services” building work across the North of England and have worked with them on multiple occassions since.

In this particular case the site itself was located at the beautiful Lingley Mere United Utilities site in Warrington and involved the maintenance and partial re-build of their bridge walkway across the site pond.

The Challenge
This was on the surface a tricky job due to the over-water location, resulting in a slower logistics process. The job was also situated in the middle of three office blocks, with a lot of foot traffic passing each day adding to the need for increased safety measures.

The Solution
We had to get a floating pontoon bought in with lifebouy ring for safety. The pontoon needed to be moved as the works progressed and we had to make temporary in-fill panels to close up gaps in the balustrade, to maintain safe edge protection whilst the decorative lattice panels got worked on.

The project was originally scheduled to take us 5 weeks, however dspite the delay in logistics, we were still able to complete the full project start to finish, safely and securely in only 4.

We were praised by our client for the site set up, the measures we took to maintain safety, good progress and our attempts to cause minimum disruption wherever possible.
